STEP 9

Lay the door on a piece of chicken wire and, wearing protective gloves, cut out the wire to fit.

STEP 10

Take the 3m (10ft) length of thinner twisted wire and wind it around the handle

of a wooden spoon to make

a long coil. Pull the wire off the handle and flatten the loops (see page 88 for method), then bind it on to the door edge, securing the chicken wire at the same time.

STEP 11

Make two simple hinges by binding the right side of the door to the box frame, in two evenly spaced places. Do not bind too tightly, to allow the door to be opened easily.

Decorative spirals are made from twisted rusted wire bound together for strength with single lengths of wire.
